State of Kansas Insurance Department Individual and Agency Licensing is Transitioning to SBS

SBS Transition -- Effective Tuesday, January 11th

On Tuesday, January 11, 2022, the State of Kansas Insurance Department Individual and Agency Licensing is transitioning to State Based Systems (SBS), a web-based NAIC application that supports state insurance regulation functions. 


Thursday, December 30th at 4:00 p.m. CT the following services will be unavailable:
All Kansas individual and business entity licensing operations,
all NIPR online submissions (applications, appointments and terminations, and contact change requests) that affect the State of Kansas Department of Insurance database and all SBS services currently in use by the Kansas Insurance Department.
Tuesday, January 11th: Kansas' professional insurance licensing operations are available using SBS at 8 a.m. CT and NIPR begins accepting online submissions at 10 a.m. CT.

CHANGES FOR INDUSTRY effective January 11, 2022:
  • All licensees requiring Continuing Education (CE) when renewing their Kansas insurance license must be CE Compliant before submitting their renewal application.
  • Licensees (individual and agencies) will use SBS License Manager to print their license.
  • Individual licensees whose licenses require Kansas CE will use SBS License Manager to print/view their education transcripts and verify their CE compliance status.
Please Note: License numbers for all Kansas Individual licensees will not change. Their license numbers will continue to be their National Producer Number (NPN).
